Free WMV to MP4 Converter is a free video converter. It supports only one input format, WMV, and a few output formats, MPEG-4 and H.264. The application is completely free and it was published by a website that acts a software library of sorts. At the moment of writing this review, the application wasn't working at all.
In terms of design, the application is easy on the eye, with a small user interface which consists of a single window. There, you select the desired output format from a drop-down menu which lists mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPod, and consoles like the PSP, PS3, and the AppleTV. Each one of those presets uses a different resolution and codec.
This converter will only take WMV files as input, and there isn't a video player for you to preview those files. I often find myself willing to accept the lack of a video player, as long the converter is free and works considerably well.
In my testing of this application, I used several different WMV video files known to work on my system. I added them to the application and clicked on "Convert". A DOS window popped up and disappeared almost instantly. I tried several times and restarted both the app and my system at least once, to no avail. Under the task manager, Free WMV to MP4 converter wasn't using any CPU time, so that means the application wasn't doing anything.
